Gone to the Dogs

He was a very old dog.  Since his birth he has had a great many adventures, some good and some not so good.  His tail still wags so we assume he is happy.  All of his life experiences make up who he is today.

This, however, is not a story about the dog but is rather a story about the fleas that live upon the dog.  They go about their day sharing their flea stories with each other.  They discuss their various neighborhoods and the issues they each have.

One has mentioned that the surface of his neighborhood appears dry and flaky.  Something, they say, must be wrong.

“It was never like this when I was growing up.”

Eventually a panic spreads across the communities.  The fleas are concerned about their future.

“We must do something.  After all, this is our home.”

“Maybe it is something we have caused.”

“Just maybe, if we all pull together we can alter our world and get it back on track.”

Meanwhile… off on some far-distant Blog, a human writes about global warming.  Concerned that humans have caused the changes they are seeing on their planet - they panic.  Various communities spread the message that time is of the essence.

“Surely it is something we have caused.  It was never like this when we were growing up.”

 Your assignment:

Write a minimum of two pages on what the author is suggesting.  Explore other analogies he might have used instead of fleas on a dog.

For extra credit, describe the universe and give three examples.

Remember;  once you have your graded paper back, please recycle.

Thank you
