I met a whiskered kitten

who spoke kindly of a rat –

A lady in the music store

was trying on a hat –

The trumpet she was playing

had a little valve for spit –

High atop her curly hair

the hat would never fit –

Wally had a window

that he carried around the store –

And spent the hours of his day

hoping to see more –

I skipped a pond across the stone

it wasn’t hard to do –

People thought me crazy

but Wally saw it too –

Reporters came from far away

to interview the cat –

The one with little whiskers

who spoke kindly of a rat –

Cameras, lights and cue cards

were running down the aisle –

A little mouse tail wiggled

from a whiskered kitten smile -

The lady with the too tall hair

fainted to the floor –

Wally told the ambulance

to hurry to his store –

A medic with a stethoscope

helped the mouse retreat -

Though it wasn’t easy running

with saliva on his feet –

Breaking news at 5-o-clock

some actress got divorced –

Right after these commercials

a pond that changed its course.
